I have been dealing with the above named issue for a few weeks now and i don't know where the problem is. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers again but still doesn't work. I have tried updating from windows update but still nothing. I have tried updating from manufactures site but still nothing. I have a Dell Latitude e5440. My only solution is to either disable or uninstall the Intel graphics driver. But then my machine runs on Microsoft basic driver when that happens and my Nvidia gpu is not detected from there on. So i need my Intel to work in order for my Nvidia to work properly. What i'm i missing?? Please help. I'm running out of my mind here!!

After about two months of digging throughout the internet for a definitive remedy, I realized no solution was working for me. Then I went back to my computer to study the installation logs. It is from there that I found the problem with black screen upon installing intel hd graphics drivers. Apparently, installation always stopped due to the computer's power plan/policy. It happens that the intel graphics driver won't work with the default Balanced Power Plan, which seems to be the default when installing Windows 10 1803. Therefore, to correct the black screen, I entered into Safe Mode and reinstalled the problematic intel graphics driver, then went to the Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options. Under the Balanced (recommended) option, I selected Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings, then expanding the 'Intel (R) Graphics Settings > Intel (R) Graphics Power Plan', I set both On battery and Plugged in to "Maximum Performance". Then I restarted my computer and voila! It worked. No black screen again.

I tried the suggestion of uninstalling the current XE graphics driver, rebooting and then reinstalling the Dell original driver. This resulted in the same issue - as I had mentioned doing that already, I knew it wouldn't work. I then removed that driver and installed the newest Intel driver as recommended. Again, having already done that, I knew the outcome would be the same and it was. Still flickering.

1. - Yes, both statements are correct. What's odd is that this is the only time we have seen screen flickering. I was initially looking at graphics drivers, but I also wonder if it's a USB driver issue. Currently using the Microsoft USB 3.2 xHCI driver

2. Aver M11-8M - -camera/m11-8m

3. USB connected

4. We only have one of this model - Dell Latitude 5520

5. We have several other laptop models that it works fine on - Dell Latitude 5289, 5310-2-in-1, 5320, 5480, E5450, E5470 as well as a few Lenovo Thinkpads - all with Intel graphics, but the Latitude 5520 is currently the only one we have with the Intel Iris xe graphics chip.

6. I will have access to the laptop on Wednesday of next week (May 4th) as Dell wants me to do a factory reload. I can run the SSU at that time and post the report prior to the reload.

Let me start with I have never had a problem with the sims lagging on this laptop until recently. I opened my game and it ran just fine until I went into a save file. When the game loaded I could barely move the camera because it was lagging so much and even when I clicked on things it took at least 3 seconds to respond. I put the settings on low graphics quality and laptop mode, restarted the game, and it still didn't help. I did the same thing without it being on laptop mode and it didn't help. I deleted all my mods and save files, still to no avail. I even deleted and reinstalled the entire game but it still won't work. I looked up things that I could do. I turned off the WiFi things in the settings. I went to see if my drivers were updated. I made sure the game was updated. I cleaned out my laptop. I even installed the 32 bit version of the game and opened it like that, still didn't help. And of course I continued to try everything with the graphics being low and on or off laptop mode. I even tried to see if it would work with the higher graphics settings. I have no idea what is wrong but this is the last thing I could think of to do. I have a Dell Latitude E5440. It has 450 GB in storage and 8 GB of RAM. The only things I have on this laptop are 3 other games, steam, origin, chrome, and my drawing software. PLEASE help me with this!!! I've been dying to play with all my expansion packs again, but I've had to deal with base game on my PS4

@Scarlett_Wolf_02 The dxdiag is fine, and no, it doesn't need to be run while you play. The problem is obvious: your computer doesn't have a graphics driver installed, so it's using the Microsoft Basic Display Driver instead. This driver will run the game extremely poorly no matter what kind of hardware you have.

The motherboard inside a Dell Latitude provides electrical power to all of the devices connected to it and enables the internal hardware to talk to each other. This includes the monitor, which connects to the motherboard via a video cable. If the screen is flickering, this cable might have come loose from the board. The software responsible for executing graphics routines could also be responsible for video problems. Adjusting the video cable and reinstalling the video driver can solve most screen flickering problems. e24fc04721
