Promoting macroeconomic research within India
The Delhi Macroeconomics Working Group (DMWG) is a network of academic macroeconomists in the National Capital Region working in empirical macroeconomics, macroeconomic theory and quantitative macroeconomics, with a particular focus on emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs). The goal of the network is to promote and disseminate high quality research in the field of macroeconomics.
A two day workshop is organized once a year to bring researchers and invited speakers to present their work in the Delhi Macroeconomics Workshop (DMW). The DMW is the premier macroeconomics workshop in India which routinely features top scholars internationally. The workshop also promotes research in Indian macro where rigorous quantitative techniques are used to study Indian macroeconomic policies. The workshop is funded by the Policy and Planning Research Unit (PPRU), Indian Statistical Institute - Delhi Centre. This year, the Indian Statistical Institute - Delhi Centre will host the 11th Delhi Macroeconomics Workshop from October 29-30, 2026. The program chairs are Chetan Ghate (ISI - Delhi) and Monishankar Bishnu (ISI - Delhi).
