Why do we belong to the American Legion?

1. Because veterans sometimes need support that only other veterans can provide.

2. Because veterans sometimes need each other – and a mission to serve their community, as they served their country – because, “That’s just how we roll.”

3. Because our legion provides services in our community that are needed, and someone needs to fill the vacuum.

4. “If not us, then who?” In many, many cases, if not The American Legion, then no one.

5. And as the organization’s founders did nearly a century ago, when so many of their comrades were coming home with needs only other veterans could understand, we are ready to welcome them home with care, dignity, and comradery. 

These are our “why?”
