DelayDock ("we", "our", or "the app") is a digital wellbeing application that helps you pause before opening apps you choose to block. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information we collect
## Account information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Firebase user ID (UID)
This data is stored in Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore to manage your account and subscription plan metadata.
## App blocking preferences (stored on your device)
DelayDock stores the following **locally on your device** using Android DataStore:
- Package names of apps you choose to block
- Block mode settings (strict, limited, custom)
- Daily usage limits and intercept counts
- Temporary pass and custom lock timers
This data is not uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly use a future cloud-sync feature.
## Accessibility Service
DelayDock uses an Android Accessibility Service to detect when you open an app you have chosen to block. The service:
- Listens for window state changes only (when an app comes to the foreground)
- Does not read screen content, passwords, messages, or personal data inside other apps
- Does not retrieve window content (`canRetrieveWindowContent` is disabled)
The service runs only while you have enabled it in Android Settings and only acts on apps you configured in DelayDock.
## Advertising
We display banner ads through Google AdMob. AdMob and the User Messaging Platform (UMP) may collect:
- Advertising ID
- Device information
- IP address (for ad delivery and consent)
See [Google's Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) for how Google handles this data. You can manage ad consent through the in-app consent flow where required by law.
## Crash and stability data
We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and non-fatal errors to improve app stability. This may include:
- Device model and OS version
- Stack traces
- App version
Crash reports do not include your block list or email address unless included in an error message.
## How we use information
| Data | Purpose |
|------|---------|
| Email / UID | Account sign-in, profile, plan metadata |
| Block preferences (local) | Core app functionality |
| Accessibility events | Detect launches of blocked apps only |
| Ad identifiers | Show ads and measure ad performance |
| Crash logs | Fix bugs and improve reliability |
## Third-party services
We use:
- Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Crashlytics) — [Firebase Privacy](https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy)
- Google AdMob / UMP — [Google Privacy](https://policies.google.com/privacy)
## Data retention
- Account data is retained while your account is active. You may request deletion by contacting us.
- Local block preferences are deleted when you uninstall the app or clear app data.
- Crash logs are retained per Firebase default retention policies.
## Your choices
- Disable the Accessibility Service at any time in Android Settings → Accessibility.
- Manage ad consent through the in-app UMP flow (where shown).
- Delete your account by contacting us at pkhater0@gmail.com.
- Uninstall the app to remove all local data.
## Children's privacy
DelayDock is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
## Security
We use industry-standard practices through Firebase and Google Cloud. Block configuration is stored on your device and excluded from Android backup in the app configuration.
## Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version at the same URL and update the "Last updated" date.
