The Birth of DE LAAN FC: A Journey from Passion to Glory 

In 2005, a group of disgruntled but passionate football enthusiasts came together to give life to what would become one of the most fantastic football clubs in the country—DE LAAN FC. The formation of our beloved club was the result of dedication, a shared love for the beautiful game, and a dream to create something special. 

At the heart of DE LAAN FC's inception were a few visionary individuals whose love for football knew no bounds. Dr Makutla Mojapelo, Mpho Mojapelo, Leonett Mojapelo, Maena Maphetoa and others were instrumental in shaping the club's destiny. They believed in the power of football to unite people and bring joy to the community. 

"I suggested that the name of the club be GUNNERS FC, but one member argued that it should be 7 DE LAAN FC" says Mpho. Mpho, who happens to be one of the founders of the team, recalls vividly the first game DE LAAN FC played against Tigers, in which they went the entire 60 minutes without a substitute. It is this very first game that invigorated dedication and a remarkable passion where they won 2 - 0 against a well-established team with a full-time coach, full squad and substitutes. The club later rebranded their identity to DE LAAN FC due to copyright infringement.

The founders shared a common dream of establishing a club that would not only excel on the field but also make a positive impact off it. They envisioned a place where young talents could be nurtured, and where the community could come together to support their team. Over the years, DE LAAN FC has achieved remarkable milestones, from starting off as a 11 players football club to a completely developed football club . It has managed to give birth to a social club to facilitate social interaction and build connections among like-minded individuals. These accomplishments were made possible by the unwavering dedication of our players, management, and supporters.
