Meeting #88

The 88th Educational Meeting was held on the 4th of March 2023 at Zealous Nest, Mount Lavinia.

Role Players:

• Toastmaster of the day - Ammar Jawfer

• General Evaluator – TM Azhar

• Grammarian – Ragavi Ratnaranjan

• Ah Counter – Bhagya Herath

• Timer - Musthafa Hamza

• Round Robin Master - Samuel Arulanandan

The meeting started with the President, TM Ammar Jawfer welcoming all the Toastmasters and guests, after which he introduced the theme for the day as he was also the TMOD. The theme for the day was "New Ventures." 

He then mentioned that he would be moving forward the special session which was planned for later, to the start of the meeting.

TM Ammar carried out the special session in which he shared a small story of his experience at a recent Toastmasters Training Programme titled 'Moving from a Speaker to a Trainer' in which he had participated in. He also mentioned some of the valuable lessons he learned from his recent trip to the UK for which he had gone to complete an exam.

Next, he introduced the theme of "New Ventures" for the meeting as he was also the TMOD.

After the Toastmaster invited the roleplayers to give a brief introduction of their roles and the word of the day was introduced by the Grammarian, TM Ragavi Ratnaranjan 

The Round Robin session was carried out by TM Samuel and the topic was selected in line with the theme for the day. The topic chosen was "If you had Unlimited Financing what new business would you start?"

Next, there were 3 wonderful prepared speeches given by TM Komin, TM Saai, and TM Ammar. TM Saai's speech was especially unique as it was carried out in the form of an interview as per the requirement of his project.

Next, TM Keerthana carried out a very engaging Table Topics session in which the speakers had to choose a topic that had been rolled and placed inside a jar. It was a very successful session, as it saw the active participation of many of the guests present.

The meeting concluded with the guests sharing their experience of their first meeting at Dehiwala Toastmasters and how much they were able to enjoy and learn from the meeting.

The meeting was then concluded by the President thanking DTM Zihana for hosting the meeting at Zealous Nest and he also mentioned how much she had supported the Club throughout.

Overall it was a very interesting and enjoyable meeting, which saw the active participation of all the members and guests present and everyone was definitely able to learn a lot! Looking forward to many more such meetings!
