Meeting #86

Dehiwala Toastmasters Club held a Joint Meeting with the IIT Toastmasters Club on the 11th of February 2023 at IIT Bambalapitiya. 

Role Players:

• Toastmaster of the day - Nafhan Nazeem

• General Evaluator – Savinu

• Grammarian – Komin Karunasekara

• Ah Counter – Musthafa Hamza

• Timer - Kimali Abeynayake

• Round Robin Master - Venura Liyanagoda

The Toastmaster of the day was the VP Education of IIT Toastmasters Club, TM Diadri Weerasekara and she began the meeting by energetically introducing the theme for the day which was ‘Valentine's Day.’ 

The Round Robin Master for the day, TM Venura conducted an interesting Round Robin session aligning with the theme. This session went on a crazy rollercoaster ride with the unofficial word of the day, "coconut". Next, the prepared speech session was held with three prepared speeches being presented and evaluated. Speeches were given by TM Komin from Dehiwala Toastmasters Club and Toastmasters Tharinda and Thushara from IIT Toastmasters Club.

Thereafter, the President of IIT Toastmasters Club, TM Asiri Ekanayake carried out a very interactive and successful Table topics session, in which speakers got their topics by choosing a heart-shaped paper on which the topic was written and which was pasted on a whiteboard. This saw the active participation of members of both Toastmasters Clubs and helped them to improve their impromptu speaking skills.

The following speakers were adjudged the winners for the day in their respective categories.

• Best Prepared Speech – TM Komin Karunasekara

• Best Evaluator – TM Saai Syvendra

• Best Table Topics Speaker – TM Saai Syvendra
