Meeting #84

The 84th Educational Meeting was held on the 14th of January 2023 under the theme "New Year, New Beginnings"

Role Players:

• Toastmaster of the day - Samuel Arulanandan

• General Evaluator – Saai Syvendra

• Grammarian – Rajindh Gooneratne

• Ah Counter – Akith

• Timer - Mustafa

• Round Robin Master - Samuel Arulanandan

• Table Topic Master - Komin Karunasekara 

The meeting started with all the Toastmasters and guests being welcomed to the first meeting of the year for the Dehiwala Toastmasters Club, after which the Theme for the day was introduced by the TMOD, TM Samuel. Next,  the roleplayers gave a brief introduction of their roles, and the word of the day "Plethora" was introduced by the Grammarian, TM Rajindh Gooneratne

The Round Robin session was held in line with the theme for the day, as the Round Robin Master, TM Samuel chose the topic "New Year Resolutions". It was a very interactive session that saw the active participation of all the Toastmasters and guests present which was great to see.

Next, there were 2 wonderful prepared speeches given by TM Gayan and TM Saai. TM Gayan's Speech was especially significant as it was the start of his Toastmasters journey as he presented his icebreaker speech.

The TMOD then carried out a special session in which everyone present participated in an exciting and fun-filled word game, which was very interesting and enjoyable.

An interesting Table Topics session was held by the Table Topic Master TM Komin who gave very unique topics. It was a very entertaining and interactive session and an important feature of it is that it saw the active participation of many of the guests present.

The meeting concluded with the guests sharing their experience of their first meeting at Dehiwala Toastmasters and how much they were able to enjoy and gain from the meeting in terms of overcoming their fear of public speaking.

The meeting was then concluded with TM Komin explaining to the guests a bit about how Toastmasters could help you develop, citing his journey in Toastmasters as an example of how it helped him to grow in terms of public speaking.

Overall it was a very interesting and enjoyable meeting, which saw the active participation of all the members and guests present and everyone was definitely able to learn a lot! Looking forward to many more such meetings!
