Meeting #175

The 175th  Educational Meeting , was held on the 03rd October 2026 at Life Centre, Ridgeway Place , Colombo 04.

The meeting was led by Toastmaster of the Day, TM Damika, who introduced the “Beyond the Known” theme, taking members on an exciting journey into the world of science, scientific discoveries, and fascinating concepts inspired by science-fiction movies and series.

The evening began with an engaging Round Robin session conducted by TM Kalindu, where members were asked, “If you had a superpower to change one thing in the world, what would you change and why?” The thought-provoking question encouraged members to explore their imagination while sharing creative ideas about how they would transform the world.

We then moved on to the Prepared Speech session, featuring four engaging speeches. TM Aanandi shared an inspiring speech about mentorship, drawing from her own experience and taking her mother as an example. This was followed by speeches from TM Inaam, TM Zeenath, and TM Kalindu, who each brought their own unique style to the session, delivering a mix of inspirational, engaging, and humorous speeches.

Adding to the excitement, TM Damika conducted a well-organized Hangman activity with a scientific twist. Members were divided into four teams and challenged to guess words related to science and scientific concepts. The activity was conducted using an online platform, with a live dashboard automatically updating the scores as the teams competed. This brought plenty of excitement, teamwork, and friendly competition to the meeting.

The journey Beyond the Known continued during the Table Topics session, skillfully conducted by TM Zeenath, giving members the opportunity to think on their feet and explore fascinating ideas while delivering creative and impromptu speeches.

The evening concluded with thoughtful evaluations, where speakers received constructive feedback and valuable insights to support their continued growth throughout their Toastmasters journey.

The meeting was then adjourned, bringing another enjoyable evening of learning, imagination, creativity, and fellowship to a close.
