The Defiance Society of Artists is an organization of creative, community-oriented adults, who enjoy meeting to practice and promote studio arts. Our group offers opportunities to explore various art media, develop technique, and together expand an appreciation of art.
Organized in 1948, the Society held its meetings at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Daun, then on the Defiance College campus. On the 10th anniversary of the Society’s founding, the Willis Schick home, located at 522 Pearl Street, was purchased. It is the current home of the Defiance Society of Artists.
The Society sponsors events open to the public, including demonstrations and workshops conducted by members and other accomplished artists in the region. We also house a collection of work exhibited in our gallery, which is open for various events scheduled during each year.
