AEA is a professional association and a labor union, advocating on behalf of students, staff, and teachers in Arizona.
The Arizona Education Association works to promote, advance, and protect public education, the education profession, and the rights and interests of our members.
DVEA represents all Deer Valley certified staff in the district. Our members include teachers, counselors, instructional coaches, and more! DVEA is the also district recognized negotiating team. Our members sit on committees and provide a voice for certified teachers in Deer Valley. DVEA is a local affiliate to AEA (Arizona Education Association) and NEA (National Education Association.

Being an educator can be stressful — but you’re not alone. AEA members have a support system of thousands of educators and AEA staff who live and work in your district. Whether you’re a new teacher who needs advice on a difficult classroom or a food service worker that’s pushing back against student lunch debt – our union members are here to provide support, experience, and their voices to your needs.
Simply put, educators deserve professional pay for professional work — and the members of AEA are the premiere advocates fighting to ensure you’re paid what you’re worth. This also means stopping legislative cuts to your benefits such as retirement security.
From the local school board to the state legislature, elected officials are making decisions that impact your schools — join our union and be a part of the discussion. AEA members form the strongest voice advocating for educators and students in Arizona. We’re fighting against the standardized test regime, raising the need for fair evaluations, and standing in solidarity to secure fair wages for every worker in our schools.
AEA is one of the largest providers of high-quality professional development trainings in the state. Take part in continuing education in everything from classroom management to teacher evaluations.
While DVEA does negotiate for all certified staff during salary, contract, and benefits negotiations, there are ways that only members can be supported. As a member, you have the benefit of support if you are faced with a disciplinary problem or if you need to file a grievance. Members also receive up to $1 million in liability insurance.
There are so many great benefits to being a DVEA member! As Deer Valley's negotiating body, we have the power to negotiate raises and benefits that an individual can't negotiate on their own. The power that we have together is more than we have on our own.
Members also have access to even more benefits through NEA Member Benefits program. NEA members can get discounts on everything from insurance to car rentals! Members also have access to NEA's partnership with SAVI to support teachers with their student debt. Using your member benefits wisely can help you save even more than you pay in dues each year!
DVEA/AEA dues are not spent on any political causes. All money used to promote political causes are donated separately to our DVEA PAC.
If you are not yet a member, we invite you to join us! From the local school board to the state legislature, elected officials are making decisions that impact your schools — join our union and be a part of the discussion. AEA members form the strongest voice advocating for educators and students in Arizona!
Site Rep Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. At these meetings, DVEA leadership will share any important or exciting news that is happening in the district and state. Members are invited to vote on items such as language changes Anyone is invited to attend!
Our local relies on Site Representatives to share information at the school level. They attend meetings, communicate information to their site, and act as a voice for each campus in the district.
