📍How to Sign Up:
Stop by the Library anytime during open hours starting Tuesday, May 26 (the day after Memorial Day). You can join anytime during the program, but signing up early gives you more time to collect prizes! (Library Hours: Tues 11am-6pm, Wed 10am-5pm, Thur 11am-6pm, Fri 9am-2pm)

Our theme for 2026 is Plant a Seed, Read. You can start reading early, but the first week we track is May 31 through June 6. Programming runs Monday, June 1 through Friday, June 26.
Friday, May 29 from 10 - 10:30 a.m.
We'll have stories, sign language, singing, and bubbles! Open to ages 0-5. Older siblings are welcome.

For the whole month of June, we’ll have an Arcade Basketball Tournament. Come back each week to attempt to GROW your score! All ages are welcome. Each week the top scorers win prizes and there will also be grand prizes for the different age groups.
Wednesday, June 3 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Learn how to create a unique, living art piece for any space by wrapping moss around a houseplant's roots. This style of Japanese bonsai is known as kokedama. You will also explore which plants will grow best using this gardening technique and learn tips to care for this one-of-a-kind piece of natural art once you get home. Stop by or call the library to sign up (309-447-6724). Maximum 15 adults. The library will collect a $10 fee per person when you sign up.

Meet amazing animals up close — and even hold, pet, or kiss them! Come grow your curiosity and love of learning with this fun family event.

Buzz on over for a special storytime as Brittany from Tiny Heart Stories shares bee-themed books and leads a fun bee craft!

Search for The Bad Seed and his friends hidden throughout the library and solve a riddle. Find them all for a chance to win a grand prize!
What: Coffee and Community with Aunt Em's Gourmet Popcorn
This month, we’re welcoming guest speakers from Aunt Em's Gourmet Popcorn. They’ll share their process of farm to table! Sign up ahead of time so they know how many snacks to bring and share. Enjoy complimentary coffee or tea as you connect with neighbors and build relationships in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Come down to the farm with Dan Gogh for a hilarious, hoe-down magic show all about GROWING! Through amazing magic, wacky puppets, and laugh-out-loud comedy, kids discover that reading is like planting a tiny seed in your brain! - the more books you “plant” by reading every day, the smarter and more imaginative you grow! This rootin’-tootin’ barnyard adventure will leave everyone buzzing with excitement about books and bursting with new ideas!

Help us celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary by working together on a community puzzle! Stop by during the program or join in later during library hours — the puzzle will stay out until it’s complete. Attendees will be entered to win a crafty prize! Ages 9+
Wednesday, June 17 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
Join us for a special reading of Oh Say Can You Seed? and discover how seeds grow in this fun, hands-on activity! Students will create their own “Garden in a Glove” while learning about seed germination and what plants need to grow. Grade Level: K–5

If you're unable to pick up any book requests by Thursday, June 18, please give us a call (309-447-6724) and we can put them in our Pick-Up Lockers outside the library. Then you're able to pick up your books at a time that's convenient to you.

Pick up a Take & Make kit all week long to make your own American flag from colorful tissue paper, shiny stars, and recycled library card catalog cards.
Tuesday, June 23 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
Join Brittnay Haag, Horticulture Educator with Illinois Extension, to learn how to press flowers and turn plants into art. You’ll discover how to choose the best blooms, make your own eco-friendly plant press, and use pressed flowers to create beautiful projects. Best of all—you’ll take home your creations and know how to keep pressing plants at home! This event is for kids age 5+. We need at least 5 participants to make the event happen — call the library or stop by to add your name to the sign-up list today! 309-447-6724
Friday, June 26 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
This exciting bubble show will delight all ages with amazing tricks like fire bubbles, bubble fog, and giant cube bubbles while exploring the science behind the fun!
We now have a Seed Library! Stop by and browse our repurposed card catalog to take home some seeds and start growing. Thanks to Food to Flourish and generous community members, we already have our first seed donations! The Seed Library is available during our open hours.

If you are unable to make it during the open hours, don't forget that you have access to lockers outside the library 24/7. You can still request library items and then pick them up from the lockers.
