Yann LeCun, Facebook AI and NYC

Yann LeCun is VP & Chief AI Scientist at Facebook and Silver Professor at NYU affiliated with the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences & the Center for Data Science. He was the founding Director of Facebook AI Research and of the NYU Center for Data Science. He received an Engineering Diploma from ESIEE (Paris) and a PhD from Sorbonne Université. After a postdoc in Toronto he joined AT&T Bell Labs in 1988, and AT&T Labs in 1996 as Head of Image Processing Research. He joined NYU as a professor in 2003 and Facebook in 2013. His interests include AI machine learning, computer perception, robotics and computational neuroscience. He is the recipient of the 2018 ACM Turing Award (with Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio) for "conceptual and engineering breakthroughs that have made deep neural networks a critical component of computing", a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur.

Oriol Vinyals, DeepMind

Oriol Vinyals is a Principal Scientist at Google DeepMind, working in Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Prior to joining DeepMind, Oriol was part of the Google Brain team. He holds a Ph.D. in EECS from the University of California, Berkeley and is a recipient of the 2016 MIT TR35 innovator award. His academic involvement includes program chair for the International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR) of 2017, and 2018. He has also been an area chair for many editions of the NIPS and ICML conferences. Some of his contributions are used in Google Translate, Text-To-Speech, and Speech recognition, serving billions of queries every day, and he was the lead researcher of the AlphaStar project, creating an agent that defeated a top professional at the game of StarCraft, achieving Grandmaster level. At DeepMind he continues working on his areas of interest, which include artificial intelligence, with particular emphasis on machine learning, deep learning and reinforcement learning.

Joaquin Quiñonero Candela, Facebook AI

Joaquin Quiñonero Candela is a Director of Engineering in AI at Facebook. He built the AML (Applied Machine Learning) team, driving product impact at scale through applied research in machine learning, language understanding, computer vision, computational photography, augmented reality and other AI disciplines. AML also built the unified AI platform that powers all production applications of AI across the family of Facebook products. Joaquin is now focused on new AI challenges, including the ethics of AI. As part of this focus, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Partnership on AI, an organization interested in the societal consequences of artificial intelligence.

Prior to Facebook, Joaquin built and taught a new machine learning course at the University of Cambridge, worked at Microsoft Research, and conducted postdoctoral research at three institutions in Germany, including the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics. He received his PhD from the Technical University of Denmark.

Vladlen Koltun, Intel

Vladlen Koltun is the Chief Scientist for Intelligent Systems at Intel. He has mentored more than 50 Ph.D. students, postdocs, research scientists, and Ph.D. student interns, many of whom are now successful research leaders. He directs the Intelligent Systems Lab, which conducts high-impact basic research in computer vision, machine learning, robotics, and related areas.
