Heartbreak & Loss
The hollow there, a silent space, where warmth resided, left no trace. The crumpled sheet, a gentle fold, A story whispered, now untold.
My hand still drifts in slumber's haze, expecting yours in familiar ways. But meets the cool, a stark divide, where laughter lived and dreams did ride.
The morning light, a stark reveal, the emptiness I cannot heal. The quiet breathes where voices blended, A chapter closed, a journey ended.
Each passing hour, a soft refrain, of what is lost, and what remains. Just memories that softly bloom, within this quiet, empty room.
The empty side, a constant ache, For someone who will not awake Beside me now, in gentle rest, Leaving a void within my chest.
The air was heavy, like before a storm. Your eyes looked far away, not warm. We sat so quiet, not much to say, Like the music had just stopped playing that day.
I saw it then, the thing was done. Like the setting of the hot, hot sun. No more stories, no more plans we make, Just the silence for goodness sake.
My heart felt a thump, a heavy stone, Knowing I would walk this road alone. That last look you gave, it said it all, Like a big, strong wall about to fall.
So we stood up slow, and said goodbye, Underneath that big, blue African sky. And in that moment, I just knew, Our time together, completely through.
The house is quiet, like after the rain, But the hallway remembers, it feels the pain. Footsteps echo, though no one's there, Just ghosts of laughter, hanging in the air.
Remember the parties, the music loud? Now only silence, wrapped in a shroud. The walls hold stories, etched in the wood, Of family gatherings, misunderstood.
That corner there, where you used to stand, A ghost of your smile, held in my hand. The kitchen smells, of spices and warmth, But the table's empty, missing your form.
Don't be scared of the whispers, the chills in the night, They're just memories, holding on tight. This house is a heart, and the ghosts are its beat, Living on love, bittersweet.
The bakkie parked, beneath the sun, Two hearts that beat, now just one. Like Jo'burg rain, a sudden start, But love can fade, and fall apart.
We shared a smile, a Castle Lite, Dreams in the dark, held oh so tight. A taxi ride, through city streets, But love can lie, and bring defeats.
From Durban's shore, to Cape Town's breeze, We built a world, with hopeful ease. A braai's warm glow, a shisanyama's flame, But love can go, it's not the same.
Like Highveld storms, it raged and roared, Then left us lost, and unexplored. A melody, from Mango Groove, A love we knew, we couldn't keep.
So let it go, like dust it flies, Beneath the vast, South African skies. A memory soft, a gentle tear, Love wasn't enough, but we were here.
