Deepshikha's painting of a girl waving good bye to her astronaut mother featured on the cover page of 2019 NASA Commercial Crew Artwork Calendar.
Every last few years NASA published the calendar, established artists made the cover page. But, for 2019 calendar, NASA had chosen painting drawn by Deepshikha. This was the first time a painting drawn by a kid was selected as the cover of the coveted calendar.
The Program Manager of NASA's Commercial Crew Program Kathryn L. Lueders mentioned that Deepshikha's outstanding image was selected as the cover of the 2019 NASA calendar as it captured both the viewers' imagination and tugged at the heart.
In recognition of her exceptional artwork, Miss You My Dear, Commercial Crew presented her the inaugural 2019 Program Managers Achievement Award.
Deepshikha received a special certificate which is a one-of-a-kind memento to commemorate the occasion and acknowledge her talent. The certificate contains the signatures of all the original Commercial Crew Program astronauts. NASA also included in the package a CCP Demo-1 Mission patch and a Commercial Crew patch that was actually flown on Demo-1 to the Space Station. In short, Deepshikha was awarded a piece of spaceflight history.
In 2020, One of her painting was selected as the face of December. The painting was named Returning to Earth and Deepshikha depicted the astronaut mother returning to Earth and the child welcoming her with flowers.
The next time Deepshikha's painting was selected as a winner by NASA was in 2022. This time Deepshikha painted the third part of her trilogy, named Looking Through My Telescope - the child has grown up a bit and now she herself wants to see the universe, visit the space and that why she is using a Telescope to see beyond. She is using a book as her vehicle that shows education gives dreams the wings they need!
In 2025, NASA published their 10th anniversary calendar and two of Deepshikha's paintings were featured - month of May and July! This year's calendar was special, it showcased the best of the paintings of the last decade and which the followers loved. It is surreal to have two painting selected in the prestigious calendar!
This is the fourth time Deepshikha has won an award from NASA!
