This Privacy Policy describes how the DeepScan File Recovery mobile application ("DeepScan", "the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use it. By installing or using the App you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please uninstall the App and discontinue use.
DeepScan File Recovery is a free Android utility that helps you locate and restore deleted or lost photos, videos, audio files, and other documents stored on your device. The App is published under the package name com.deepscan.filerecover.
The App is intended for users 13 years of age or older. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
To find recoverable files, the App scans the storage of the Android device on which it runs. This requires the All files access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) permission on Android 11 and above, or the legacy storage and media-read permissions on older Android versions.
All file scanning happens locally on your device.
We do not upload, copy, transmit, or otherwise transfer the files we scan to any server controlled by us.
We do not read the contents of your files; we only read filenames, sizes, modification dates, and basic image metadata required to display thumbnails and identify recoverable items.
Files you choose to restore are written to a folder named RestoredPhotos (or similar) inside your device's public Pictures directory.
On Android 13 and above, the App asks for POST_NOTIFICATIONS so it can deliver an optional daily reminder to keep your "recovery streak" going. You may decline or revoke this permission at any time in your device's system settings; the App will continue to function normally without it.
The App requests INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE solely so that the advertising components described in Section 3 can load. The App does not use the network for anything else.
The App stores small preference values in Android's private SharedPreferences area on your device. These include:
The current and historical "recovery streak" counts.
A throttling timestamp so the rating prompt is not shown more than once per day.
A flag indicating whether you have already rated the App.
Cached counts of scanned files for the home-screen banner.
These preferences never leave your device.
The App displays advertisements served by Google AdMob (operated by Google LLC) and may, when AdMob mediation is enabled, route ad requests to the following partner networks:
Meta Audience Network (operated by Meta Platforms, Inc.)
Unity Ads (operated by Unity Technologies)
AppLovin (operated by AppLovin Corporation)
Pangle (operated by Bytedance / Pangle)
Mintegral (operated by Mintegral International Limited)
These networks may collect and process information for the purpose of measuring and personalising advertising. Information they may collect includes:
Your device's Advertising ID (AAID).
Coarse, IP-derived approximate location (country / region).
Device information such as model, manufacturer, operating-system version, language, and screen size.
Network information such as carrier and connection type.
Ad-interaction events such as ad impressions, clicks, and installs of advertised apps.
We do not directly receive or store this information. It is collected by the advertising SDKs embedded in the App and processed by the third parties listed above under their own privacy policies:
Google AdMob: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Meta Audience Network: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/
Unity Ads: https://unity.com/legal/privacy-policy
AppLovin: https://www.applovin.com/privacy/
Mintegral: https://www.mintegral.com/en/privacy/
You can reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time in your device's Settings → Privacy → Ads, and you can opt out of personalised advertising in the same place.
If you access the App from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or any other jurisdiction with a comparable consent framework, you will be presented with a consent dialog (powered by Google's User Messaging Platform) the first time advertising is loaded. You may choose to accept personalised advertising, accept only non-personalised advertising, or decline. You can change your choice later from the App's settings ("Manage privacy / ad consent") or by clearing the App's data.
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at the address in Section 9 and we will take prompt steps to delete it.
We do not sell or rent any information to third parties. The advertising networks listed in Section 3 may, depending on your consent choices and jurisdiction, share information among themselves and with their advertisers as described in their own privacy policies linked above.
Information processed by the advertising SDKs is retained according to each network's own retention policy. On-device preferences described in Section 2.4 are retained until you uninstall the App or clear its data from your device's Settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK), the CCPA / CPRA (California), or the DPDP Act (India), including the right to access, correct, delete, restrict processing of, or port the personal information held about you, and the right to withdraw consent.
Because the App itself does not collect or store your personal information on our servers, most such requests are best directed to the third-party advertising networks listed in Section 3, who actually hold the data. For any question or request relating to the App itself, contact us using the details in Section 9.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this document and post the new version at the same URL where you originally found it. Continued use of the App after a change indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
