The question which motivated me to launch deep learning with Sumant began with why some students become math prodigies and are able to do university level math in their teens ? Just read the biography of most mathematicians and you will discover is they invariably had great mentors and many time its their own parents. Doing Mathematics is a lot of fun and opens the door to many other fields.
In Deep learning students spend time really learning concepts inside out and aim for depth rather than just superficial regurgitation of concepts. There is no memorization or cramming. Students get exposed to concepts of math from very simple ideas and these ideas are guided and refined so what many other students find intimidating becomes second nature to these students.
