Deepak completed his doctoral research in the supervision of Prof. Pritam Mukhopadhyay at the School of Physical Sciences (SPS), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India. Working on the frontiers of Supramolecular & Materials Chemistry, Deepak earned his Ph.D. degree in 2013. In 2014, Deepak was awarded with prestigious JSPS fellowship by Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences academy to pursue two years of postdoctoral research with Prof. Nobuo Kimizuka at Kyushu University, Japan. As a JSPS fellow in Kimizuka Lab, Deepak became the member of up-conversion team led by Prof. Nobuhiro Yanai and started working on triplet-triplet annihilation based photon upconversion (TTA-UC) in aqueous systems. Deepak's fascination with giant molecular systems, rings, rotaxanes and molecular cages finally made him to travel across the world from Japan to United Kingdom (UK). In December 2016 Deepak joined the Molecular Magnets group at the School of Chemistry, The University of Manchester, UK. Working with Prof. Richard E. P. Winpenny in the molecular magnets team, Deepak spent his most of the time in synthesising and modifying octanuclear heterometallic {Cr7M} rings to generate complex multi-qubit systems.
In April 2021, Deepak joined the Chemistry Department at Ashoka University and since then has been teaching and exploring the thriving field of molecular materials.
