Developing Engineering Experiences and Pathways
What is D.E.E.P.?
The Developing Engineering Experiences and Pathways (D.E.E.P.) research project focuses on engineering technology career formation. The overarching goal of this research project is to develop a greater understanding of the professional identity, institutional culture, and formation of engineering technicians and technologists prepared at two-year colleges. This project is in collaboration with Clemson University, Greenville Technical College, and Tri-County Technical College.
Why Engineering Technology?
The motivation of this work lies in the need for greater understanding of career development and professional formation for engineering technology students educated in engineering technology two-year (community/technical) college programs. This increased understanding will provide insights into shaping targeted educational programs, career counseling, professional development, and new policies and strategies to support ET students, promote career guidance, and increase professional satisfaction.
Engineering Technology Career Formation
Understanding the role engineering technology education plays and can play in supporting the nation's technical infrastructure and capacity for innovation is essential as engineering scholars seek to enhance the careers of future engineers.
