CODY COLOR

CodyColor is an online multiplayer game that will be used during Europe Code Week 2019 to organize pan-European coding activities

The CodyColor game is based on a reduced set of coding instructions, limited to twocolor-coded blocks: a redblock is used to indicate a right turn while a yellowblockindicates a left turn. The absence of color (i.e., a neutralgrayblock) is interpreted as a“NOOP” no-operation command. Players of the game (impersonating the Roby robot, thus acting as simple code interpreters and executors) start at a given startingposition and perform indicated actions as they reach a new block. Forward movement(i.e., the “advance” action) is implicit and is always performed after reaching a block andexecuting the block’s action.

The online game shows a 5✕5 chessboard, randomly populated with colored tiles, andshows the Roby robot that can be dragged to a starting position along the chessboard’sborders. As soon as the robot is dropped, it enters the chessboard from the selected point andstarts executing actions corresponding to the underlying tile’s color. The game is overwhen the robot exits the chessboard. The purpose of the game is to find the starting position leading to the longest pathacross the chessboard. The path of the robot (and its length) is uniquely determined bythe robot’s entry point. Scores are determined by the number of steps the robot makesand the speed with which the player picks the starting position. Success in the gamedepends on the initial choices of the players and how quick they are at picking.

During EU Code Week 2019 our teams organized a few meetings called Battle Royale. We played together in Cody Color on October 9th, 15th, 16th, 17th :) Look how Polish students enjoed the Cody Color games:
