DecodeMe is an app that helps users better understand conversations by analyzing text extracted from screenshots using artificial intelligence.
When you use DecodeMe, you may select screenshots of conversations from your device.
The screenshots are processed locally on your device using optical character recognition, also known as OCR. The screenshots themselves are not uploaded to our backend or sent to OpenAI.
Only the extracted text and the information necessary to generate the requested analysis are transmitted securely to our backend.
Depending on how you use the app, we may process:
text extracted locally from screenshots;
questions and additional context provided by you;
the selected analysis category and analysis goal;
relationship type and conversation context;
the side of the conversation selected by you;
selected age range and other optional information used to personalize the analysis;
app language and local preferences;
optional analysis history stored locally on your device;
purchase history required to provide purchased analysis packages;
app interactions, approximate location, diagnostic information and device or advertising identifiers processed by advertising and platform service providers;
technical information necessary to prevent fraud, abuse and excessive use.
The name entered during onboarding is stored only locally on your device. It is not sent to our backend or to OpenAI.
DecodeMe does not collect email addresses, telephone numbers or payment-card details directly from users.
We use data only to:
generate the analysis requested by the user;
provide the app’s features;
personalize the analysis using the context voluntarily provided by the user;
manage and verify in-app purchases;
display rewarded advertisements;
measure advertising performance;
prevent fraud, abuse and excessive use;
improve the security, stability and reliability of the app.
We do not sell personal data.
DecodeMe processes selected screenshots locally on your device to extract text using OCR.
The screenshots themselves are not uploaded to our backend or sent to OpenAI.
Temporary image copies created and controlled by the app are deleted when the processing finishes, fails or is cancelled. Your device operating system, image selector or other service providers may create their own temporary caches, which DecodeMe does not control.
The extracted text, your question and the analysis context are transmitted securely to our backend and used to generate the requested analysis.
DecodeMe does not permanently store screenshots or extracted conversation text by default. Temporary technical logs may be generated by hosting, security or third-party service providers according to their own security and retention practices.
To generate an analysis, DecodeMe sends the necessary extracted text and context to our backend. Our backend then submits the request to OpenAI.
OpenAI processes this information to generate the analysis requested by the user.
The OpenAI API key is stored securely on our backend and is not included in the mobile application.
Users should avoid including unnecessary personal or sensitive information in the conversations they submit.
Analysis results are not saved automatically.
Users can choose to save an analysis by pressing “Save analysis.”
Saved analyses are stored locally on the user’s device. They are not automatically synchronized with an online account.
Users can delete their saved history at any time from:
Profile > Privacy and Data
The name entered during onboarding, saved analyses, preferences, consent status and other profile information are stored locally on the device.
The name entered by the user is used only to personalize the app interface and is not transmitted to our backend or to OpenAI.
The selected age range and other optional analysis context may be transmitted when needed to personalize a requested analysis.
DecodeMe offers optional in-app purchases that provide additional conversation analyses.
Payments are processed through Google Play Billing or Apple App Store services, depending on the user’s device.
DecodeMe does not receive or store complete credit-card, bank-account or other payment details.
DecodeMe uses RevenueCat to manage and verify purchases. RevenueCat and the applicable app store may process purchase history, transaction information and technical identifiers required to verify purchases and provide the purchased content.
DecodeMe uses Google AdMob to display rewarded advertisements.
Google AdMob may process information including:
approximate location derived from the device’s IP address;
interactions with the app and advertisements;
diagnostic information;
device, app or advertising identifiers.
This information may be used to display advertisements, measure ad performance, perform analytics and prevent fraud or abuse.
The processing of advertising data is subject to Google’s applicable privacy terms and user consent choices.
DecodeMe does not require users to create an account.
Users can delete saved analyses and local app information from:
Profile > Privacy and Data
The option “Delete all my data” removes information controlled and stored locally by DecodeMe, including:
saved analyses;
locally stored profile information;
consent status;
app preferences;
the locally generated anonymous installation identifier;
temporary files controlled by the app;
local session information.
Uninstalling the app may also remove local data, subject to the device operating system and backup settings.
Some information processed by third-party services may be retained according to their own legal, security and operational retention requirements.
