All current members of the American Sociological Association (ASA) are eligible to join one or more Sections of the ASA by paying the appropriate section dues. Participating in sections is a good way to become involved in ASA. In addition to staying current in special interest areas, sections provide excellent networking opportunities. Sections publish newsletters (print and/or online) which are disseminated to current section members. Section newsletters detail current research in the particular subfield, grant opportunities, book announcements, and other pertinent information. Sections also feature webpages on the ASA website, listservs for announcements and discussions, and occasional mini-conferences. Last but not least, sections sponsor sessions during the ASA Annual Meetings. Section Program Committees design the section themes, coordinate the Call for Papers, and organize the presentations. Section sessions are diverse and rich in specified areas of sociology.
You must be a current member to join sections. If you are a current member, go to the member portal and add a section to your membership. (Use your ASA ID and password to log in.) If you are not a current ASA member, you can join on this page.
