Shayla Stafford is an instructional coach in Washington D.C. and has served as a history and government teacher for the past nine years. Shayla is a National Board Certified Teacher and has been recognized by the White House for her achievements in Project Based Learning. Shayla is the CEO and founder of RemixEducation, an education training organization that has provided more than 100 students in Maryland, North Carolina, Georgia, and Washington, D.C. with positive youth development programming. Shayla graduated from Wellesley College in Massachusetts and received a master's degree in teaching from Duke University. Her SaaS company Adaptivex, aims to put the power of adaptive testing in the hands of K-12 teachers. She has won the ATT Hackathon, DC Venture Pitch Competition and most recently came in 2nd place at the DC Startupalooza Competition. Charity Moran Parsons is a former high school PBL teacher, School Development Coach, and middle school-alternative programs Instructional Specialist who has experience as an elementary school Federal Programs Instructional Coordinator as well as a STEM Curriculum Manager. Charity has been involved in PBL education since 2007. She believes that PBL is a powerful and transforming instructional strategy that, when leveraged appropriately, dispels achievement disparities and empowers ALL stakeholders to become lifelong learners.
A Class of 2000 Gates Millennium Scholar, Charity has earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Southern University and A&M College; a Master of Arts in Secondary Mathematics Education from Centenary College of Louisiana; and an Educational Specialist certification in Educational Leadership from Louisiana State University-Baton Rouge.
With over 30 years in education, Myla Lee serves as a consultant for literacy, technology integration, and project-based learning. Much of the learning she shares with others at national and international conferences focus on topics that were first field-tested in her classroom and later explored through her expansive coaching experiences with educators and administrators.
As a National Faculty Member for PBLWorks, Myla has contributed blog posts on topics such as inclusive literacy, coaching, and culture; designed curriculum and projects such as Student's Rebuild Hunger Challenge and Facing Difference Challenge; and facilitated professional learning in the US and abroad for nearly ten years. Currently, Myla is co-authoring the upcoming Elementary Project Based Learning book by PBLWorks. Her belief that creating a learner-centered classroom culture that provides real-world experiences should be accessible to ALL students. The power of Project Based Learning, enriched with digital tools will help make that possible.

Lacrecia has been in the education field for 20 years serving in many capacities; a classroom teacher, Academic Dean, Math Coordinator, District Curriculum Coordinator, District/ School Curriculum Specialist, District STEM Coordinator, District Title I coordinator, STEM/Innovation Director, and High Principal. She lives to inspire, motivate, change, and impact student lives by offering them a greater future through the lens of education.
Allowed the opportunity to excel further and extend student educational studies, Lacrecia implemented the first Cyber Engineering Academy in Louisiana. Through research and curriculum development she was able to extend her professional studies though this experience. Having implemented Project Based Learning at every level (teacher, administrator, and district), her hope is to bring the knowledge and insight gained through these various educational experiences to the Buck Institute to build upon and share the importance and process of Project Based Learning.
Lacrecia has been recognized as Teacher of the Year, Recognized Teacher by Carnegie Learning for participation in a RAND study for showing significant gains, and is a STEM Trainer. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, a Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership, and is currently pursuing on a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a focus on Administration.
