Robinhood customers worried about the data hack
Robinhood an investment platform shared that a data breach revealed a personal information of more than 7 billion of their customers. identity theft simply put is the use of a person's private information for financial gain. Even though the breach only contained customers names, emails etc. this is something that happens way too often and companies need to have strong identity theft protection services to monitor for any suspicious websites and databases recommended to their customers.
Ransomware attack hits UK facility clinic
This article is on a fertility clinic that claims that the document management firm that they use for scanning medical records has been hacked by a cybergang in a letter sent to its 1700 patients. The clinic was attacked by a cybergang that made a ransom demand that was not paid. Ransomware attacks use a malicious software to block access to information systems until a sum of money is paid. This can be hard to prevent but cybersecurity should be a prioritized in organizations by implementing tools to prevent hackers from getting into systems and deploying malware while always verifying the security of supply chains.
Russian king of fraud sentenced to 10 years of Methbot botnet
This Russian man Aleksandr Zhukov and his co-conspirators set up an ad fraud botnet named "Methbot," these bots generated false traffic to sites to create false impressions on advertisement. Advertisers paid Zhukov to drive their online marketing campaigns and he did so on cloned sites. Internet fraud is a cybercrime that makes use of deception by hiding information or proving incorrect information to trick victims out of money, inheritance, etc. Organizations, businesses and companies should be more careful of frauds, and though they are not easy to avoid, it can be prevented by keeping information safe and safely navigating the internet.
