I am Dr. Debasmita Dey, a researcher specializing in IoT security and reinforcement learning. My research lies at the intersection of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and communication networks, with a focus on developing secure, adaptive, and resource-efficient solutions for real-time and distributed environments.
I completed my PhD in Computer Science and Technology from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, in March 2026 under the supervision of Dr. Nirnay Ghosh. My doctoral research focused on IoT security, secure communication protocols, authentication mechanisms, reinforcement learning-based cyber-defense strategies, and intelligent decision-making for resource-constrained networks. My recent work also explores federated learning, human activity recognition, edge AI, and secure deployment of large language models.
I am currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Data Science, JIS Institute of Advanced Studies and Research, Kolkata, where I teach postgraduate students, supervise research activities, guide PhD scholars, and mentor student internships. Prior to this role, I served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of CSE (IoT) at Techno Main Salt Lake, Kolkata.
Before my doctoral studies, I obtained my Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad, where I developed a strong foundation in network security, cryptography, and distributed systems. I earned my Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science and Engineering from Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Berhampore.
I am passionate about advancing research in AI-driven security, intelligent networking, reinforcement learning, and trustworthy machine learning, and I actively seek collaborations that bridge fundamental research with practical real-world applications.
