CWWS Studio ("we", "us") operates the Dear Reader app. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we process, why, and the rights you have. It applies to users in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and other regions where the app is available.
Dear Reader is a local-first iOS app. We do not create app accounts or our own server login, and the content you write and your settings stay on your device. We process personal information only at the limited points described below.
- Controller: CWWS Studio
- App: Dear Reader (iOS)
- Privacy contact: cwws.studio+privacy@gmail.com
We process personal information only for the following:
a) Inquiries and support
- Data: your message, optional email address, inquiry type, app version and device environment information
- Purpose: receiving and responding to your inquiries
- Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR): your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), given when you choose to submit an inquiry
b) Rewarded advertising
- Data: ad request information, ad impression/view and reward results, and — only when you allow tracking in iOS — the advertising identifier (IDFA)
- Purpose: providing rewarded ads and applying the corresponding reward
- Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR): our legitimate interest in providing the rewarded-ad feature you choose to use (Art. 6(1)(f)); where the advertising identifier is used, your consent given through the iOS tracking prompt (Art. 6(1)(a))
If you decline tracking in iOS, you can still watch rewarded ads when available, and the reward is applied in the same way when ad viewing is completed.
Content you create in the app (such as your writing and settings) is not transmitted to any external server and is processed only on your device.
Usage statistics are collected only if you consent. They are collected through TelemetryDeck as anonymous information that does not identify you, and therefore are not personal information. We use them to improve the service, and you can turn usage-statistics sending off in the app settings.
We use the information above only for the purposes stated, and we do not use it for unrelated purposes. We do not sell your personal information for money; see Section 8 for how California's "sharing" rules apply to personalized advertising.
We do not operate our own server account. To provide the service, we use the following third-party service providers:
- Google Forms (Google LLC) — receiving and handling inquiries. Data shared: your message, optional email, inquiry type, app version and device environment information.
- Google Mobile Ads / AdMob (Google LLC) — providing rewarded ads, including personalized advertising where iOS settings and your consent allow. Data shared: ad request information, impression/view and reward results, and the advertising identifier where iOS settings and your consent allow.
Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy. Google's privacy information: https://policies.google.com/privacy . We update this policy without undue delay if a provider or its role changes.
The service providers above are located outside your country, and your information may be transferred internationally (to the United States) when you use the relevant features.
- Recipient: Google LLC (privacy contact: https://support.google.com/policies/troubleshooter/7575787)
- Country: United States
- Safeguard: transfers rely on the recipient's applicable transfer safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision).
- You can avoid these transfers by not submitting an inquiry and not watching rewarded ads; the related feature will then be unavailable.
- Inquiries: deleted without undue delay after your inquiry is resolved; we keep it longer only where needed (for example, to handle a dispute).
- Advertising: processed for as long as needed to serve the ad and apply the reward, in line with the ad SDK's retention policy.
- On-device content and settings: kept until you delete them or remove all app data.
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to the processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent at any time. In the app you can view, edit, and delete the data you create, delete all app data, and turn off usage-statistics sending.
To exercise your rights, contact us at cwws.studio+privacy@gmail.com.
If you are in the UK or EEA, you may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), https://ico.org.uk .
We collect the categories of personal information described in Section 2 (such as identifiers and internet or other electronic network activity), from the sources and for the purposes stated there, and may disclose them to the service providers in Section 4.
We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. However, when personalized advertising is enabled, the use of your advertising identifier for cross-context behavioral advertising may be considered "sharing" under California law. You can opt out of this sharing at any time by declining the App Tracking Transparency prompt and turning off tracking in iOS Settings; this also serves as our "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" mechanism. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would require a right to limit.
California residents have the right to know, delete, and correct their personal information, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, contact us at cwws.studio+privacy@gmail.com.
Dear Reader is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required by applicable law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from such children. If we learn that we have collected such information, we delete it without undue delay. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
- We do not create app accounts or our own server login.
- User-entered data is stored primarily in local storage on your device.
- Anonymous usage statistics do not include free-text content or information that identifies a user.
- We send only the information necessary when connecting to external services.
- You can delete your data within the app.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy as laws, app features, or external services change. When we make changes, we will post the updated content and effective date here, and we will notify you of significant changes through the app or the page where this policy is published.
For any questions about this Privacy Policy or your personal information, contact us at cwws.studio+privacy@gmail.com.
