AA Literature in Braille

Deaf Zoom Meetings: ASL Rule 62 Group has a CDI on Mondays.

ASL Rule 62, ASL Night Owls, ASL Experience, Strength and Hope, Deaf PDX Drunks, and ASL Serenity Sisters all "spotlight" active speaker and encourage members to wear dark shirts.

Zoom Host tips for hearing meetings with ASL Interpreter: Being able to easily find (see) the ASL Interpreter, active speaker and timer improves access for Deafblind and Deaf members.  Especially  newcomers to zoom meetings and members signing in with Ipad/Iphone. 

ASL Interpreter: Good lighting, appropriate clothing and background for interpreting for Deafblind. 

Dark Mode: Computers, ipads and smart phones can all be set in dark mode. There are many youtube tutorials on how to turn on dark mode.  

• Apps like facebook offer Dark Mode

• Google calendars can be set in dark mode.

Flyers, business meeting minutes, websites, and facebook posts.

• Use an easy to read font: Arial, Verdana, Calibri

Websites/facebook: 

• Black background with white font

• Blue background with yellow font.

• Simple menu & short cuts directly to information.

• Text-based tags on buttons and icons to make them readable.

• Add alt-text, caption and descriptions to web images so screen readers can describe them to visitors.

• Video description caption: Transcript for braille reader equipment.

• Use google/microsoft document accessibility option: Turn on screen reader support, braille support, and magnifier support
