In 2025, a trip to Boquete, Panama opened my eyes to the world of origin coffee. Struck by the passion and processes at Finca Casanga (Casanga Farm), I decided to go straight to the source and lease my own tree for the season. This is a running log of that 15-month sponsorship—from soil, to harvest, to cup in 2026.
January 6, 2026: The farm is preparing signs and tree assignments. Trees are being trimmed to five feet. I requested a tree in the sun.
January 12, 2026: Camera systems were simplified and is using the Reolink app for remote viewing/monitoring.
January 26, 2026: A specific sunny tree was assigned to me with the sign "Ron's Future Brew". It is viewable on camera Casanga3, Coffee05.
February 18, 2026: Monthly update reporting a busy month of tree trimming and friends visiting. Trees are preparing to flower following recent rain. Individual tree photos will be provided this week to check for blooms.
March 2026: sprayed the trees with micro-nutrients and a dose of zinc and copper, renewed borer beetle traps
