What is FACS?

"The most practical/useful class I have ever been to in my life. This class teaches you simple things that you should have known your whole life like how to make stovetop popcorn or roasted chickpeas. It also teaches you valuable skills like how to be financially literate [some of the things I learned in this class, I couldn't even learn in my school's economics class.] or what temperature to cook meat and vegetables. And if you want to work in the foodservice industry this is the BEST class, it will give you your NC eFoodHandlers™ certification which will help you get a job one day. I wasn't in this semester's class but some of my friends who were in the babysitting class were so excited when they got their Red Cross™ Babysitting certifications because then they could start making money babysitting their neighbors or parent's friends. Don't let people tell you FACS is just for girls, well if I get free food, candy, a great teacher, and little homework I don't care what I am, I'm joining FACS immediately. And I can tell you with TOTAL CONFIDENCE it was the BEST class I have ever been to in my entire life. FACS is probably one of the most fun classes I've ever taken. Ms. Thomson is SO nice, and we have a great time learning all about childcare, personal safety, and food preparation. I have been through a whole semester of FACS all virtual, and it was still my absolute favorite class to go to. One of the best parts was the super cheesy Red Cross videos and watching the whole class learn to hold stuffed animals, baby dolls, and one very unlucky cat(these were all our virtual substitutes for the actual dolls we'd have really used if we were in person.) Overall, FACS is fun, interesting, and a great way to learn more skills in everyday needs and eventually childcare. And there is no one better to teach you all these skills than Ms. Thomson.
