The "Japan Meets Europe: Intercultural Workshop on Digital Democracy & AI (DDAI 2024)" is a first-time forum for presenting, discussing, and demonstrating interdisciplinary research on innovations in democratic processes, applications, and practices through technology and AI among scholars from various cutlures and disciplines working on digital technology, democracy, ICT, and AI.
DDAI 2024 will be held in Gdańsk, Poland and organized by Department of Informatics in Management at Gdańsk University of Technology, Poland. The Program Committee invites papers on topics related to digital technology, democracy, ICT, and AI in a broad sense.
We are especially interested in online discussions and public opinion, digital services, e-government and public administration, AI and governance, civic tech and political participation, regulation of tech platforms, and state repression and surveillance. DDAI 2024 aims to bring together researchers and foster dialogue and collaboration among scholars from various disciplines working on these topics.

September 24, 2024: The success of workshop has been reported and published on the official website of the Faculty of Management and Economics, Gdańsk University of Technology
September 20, 2024: The workshop successfully opened with warm welcoming remarks from the organizer, Dr. Magdalena Ciesielska, followed by inspiring introductions from Prof. Michał Tomczak, Vice Dean for Cooperation and Development, and Prof. Tomasz Janowski, Head of the Department of Informatics in Management. This was followed by seven presentations within three sessions.
September 10, 2024: The call for papers has been published on the official website of the Faculty of Management and Economics, Gdańsk University of Technology
September 5, 2024: The submission deadline has been extended to September 16th (Poland Time).
August 1, 2024: The first call for papers was announced.
August 1, 2024: The workshop website was launched.
