THIS PROGRAM WAS RETIRED FALL 2023.
Below you can some information about the Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows Program and my project, the D&D Wellness Guild.
The D&D Wellness Guild where we bring real world barriers to light in a role-playing game called "Dungeons & Dragons" through game-based play and scenarios. On the Home page you will find the project description, but I can adapt it to fit the needs of your organization and your community.
If able to move forward, I would need the following to be addressed.
Area to host—I would need an indoor space to host the reoccurring group. A church, community center, or other place would be great ideas.
Preferred age group—I can work with ages 9-18, so if this needs to be narrowed down that can be up to your team. Just let me know and I can amend the documents for other ages/disabilities.
Dates/times that would work for the community
For the fellowship, I would be available up to 75 hours between now and March 2024. I recommend once a week in 2-4 hour blocks, but if it needs to be spaced out differently, we can talk about opportunities. If you’d like to see this in the fall, those can be shorter as well. We can workshop this if needed. (Wednesdays and Sundays are unavailable)
Someone willing to be a mentor to me during this process.
They would attend a virtual monthly meeting, respond to emails with support and communicate with the PSFP Team of hours/progress. (1-2 hrs. a month)
Financial commitment
I/PSFP will cover as much as possible—the lessons, games, etc. I may need to apply for a couple grants to provide things for particpants, so I would need the blessing of someone to apply for those as well as a list of grants the library already receives so I don’t try to double-dip. You can find some examples in the linked documents below.
I was able to do a test run on some of the content and skills during a Spring Break session with a few teens from the Millvale Community Library and it was a great experience!
A version of this program will be at the Sharpsburg Community Library this summer as well. Feel free to look at that section and see what we did!
If your organization would like to organize or direct me to other organizations to help bring this to the area, please let me know!
If you have any questions about the project or the Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows Program, please let me or Brittany, our Program Director at PSFP (bmassar@pittsburghschweitzer.org) know when you're able. You can email me at dndwellnessguild@gmail.com.
Thanks for all your hard work! Hope we can work together on this soon!
