Enabling Gender Analysis is an integral part of the the Project Development Cycle. It helps in ensuring equitable participation of all gender in development processes and projects. provides relevant data and information in order to integrate gender perspective to policies, programs and projects. It allows to come up with interventions that address gender inequalities and meet the different needs of women and men. It also allows institutions to determine how the nature of their service delivery may affect women and men and how the institutions promotes gender-inclusive working environment such as in hiring and promoting personnel, or in division of labors.
Gender Analysis serves as the starting point of Gender Mainstreaming since it is more of thee assessment of how and why gender differences and inequalities are relevant. It is important since it provides clearer and timely information on:
a. the different roles of women and men at different levels in policies, programs and projects;
b. women and men's respective access to and control over resources;
c. their gender-specific needs, priorities and responsibilities.
This approach contributes to the improved gender responsiveness of policies and legislation as it provides the basis for ensuring that the needs of all citizens, regardless of gender, are adequately addressed. Moreover, it enables policymakers to understand gender inequalities in a given situation or sector, as it not only describes the current state of contextual situations by gender, but also explores the causes and effects of gender disparities on the target group.
Through this, implementing departments will be provided with baseline data, such as identified problems and concerns present or experienced by the stakeholders in the community, which they shall utilize as reference in proposing or planning for particular program, project, and activities.
