A few of us at the division have taken the initiative to start a reading group for reading “vintage" control papers.
The aim is to try to understand the history of the fundamental ideas in our field, how they developed, and the people behind them.
The meetings work along the following lines:
Sessions are held in person every two weeks, typically on Friday afternoons between lunch and fika.
We are currently reading from the IEEE collection Control Theory: Twenty-Five Seminal Papers (1932-1981), available at https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/book/5265919. (You are nonetheless welcome to present papers not in the collection, especially if there is a connexion to a paper that has been presented in the past).
In each session one paper is discussed, ideally by two presenters.
See the schedule for a list of past and upcoming presentations and the archive for slides from old presentations.
The sessions are quite informal so this is a great opportunity for new doctoral students to practice their presentation skills in a relaxed setting!
Please get in touch with Miguel if you want to be added to our mailing list, and don’t hesitate to volunteer for a presentation!
