Carlo Buontempo

Carlo Buontempo coordinates the activities of a number of international contracts working on the interface between climate science and decision making in sectors ranging from energy to city planning. Carlo completed a PhD in physics at University of L'Aquila in 2004 then he moved to Canada for his post-doc before joining the Met Office.

Carlo worked at the Hadley Centre for almost a decade were he led the climate adaptation team and more recently the climate service development team. In this role he led numerous projects involving climate change adaptation and regional modelling in Europe, Africa, Asia and North
America. In 2012 Carlo became the scientific coordinator of EUPORIAS, and project funded by the European Commission through the 7th framework programme.

Kaveh Nobari

Kaveh S. Nobari is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Brevan Howard Centre for Financial Analysis working under the supervision of Dr Enrico Biffis. His areas of research include High-Dimensional Statistics, Time-Series Analysis, Econometric Theory and Financial Econometrics. Previously, Kaveh was a Senior Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Lancaster University, working within the domains of High-Dimensional Statistics with Dr Alex Gibberd (Lancaster University) and Dr Anders Bredahl Kock (University of Oxford) on a project that is a collaborative work amongst Lancaster University, University of Oxford, and the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Kaveh carried out his Ph.D. research in Econometric Theory (Nonparametric Inference and Granger Causality Analysis) under the supervision of Professor Abderrahim Taamouti at Durham University.

Assa Hirbod

Hirbod Assa is a reader in actuarial and data science at the Essex School of Mathematics, Statistics, and Actuarial Sciences, while also serving as the director of Modelibrary LTD. Hirbod's work includes quantitative modeling in risk management, actuarial science, machine learning, and finance. His expertise spans the realms of academia and industry. Engaging in diverse data science and risk management projects, funded by entities like the Walton Foundation, Cooke Aquiculture Inc, Longline Environment, Azur LTD, and Stable Group LTD, he also has done research projects in risk management with MUFG and Lloyds Bank. Hirbod's pivotal role in establishing Stable Group Ltd price index insurance in addressing the challenges posed by volatile commodity prices earned recognition from the University of Liverpool, highlighting an impact case in the 2021 REF submission.

Andrea Gabrielli

Andrea Gabrielli is an Associate Professor in Physics at the Engineering Department of the University Roma 3 of Rome. Previously, he was a permanent researcher at the Institute of Complex Systems (ISC) of the Italian CNR from 2004 to 2019. He worked in the last 25 years in statistical physics, fractal growth phenomena, percolation, self-organized criticality, and application of statistical physics to cosmological and gravitational problems. His main present interest focuses on the applications of complex networks and stochastic processes to economy and brain science. Since January 2021, He has been the Scientific Director of the "Enrico Fermi" Research Center (CREF) of Rome. More in detail, his present scientific activity deals with:

1) Applications of complex network theory to socio-economic networks and analysis of fMRI data about brain function;

2) Statistical physics of extended gravitational and long-range interacting systems;

3) Stochastic processes with multiplicative noise, turbulence and the relation with long-range interactions;

4) Theory of anomalous diffusion in NMR experiments in organic and inorganic complex media.
