Note: This application currently supports calculations only for the No. 1 hammer (17.6 lb / 8 kg). Future updates may include support for the No. 2 hammer (10.1 lb / 4.6 kg).
DCP Companion helps you record and analyze DCP test data in the field. Follow these steps to start a new test:
Tap "New Test" on the main screen.
Enter test metadata, including name, location, and notes.
Input the starting reading – the initial measurement (in mm) seen on the measurement rod before applying any blows.
Begin recording readings as you conduct the test.
The app generates a graph to help visualize test results:
Depth (mm) is displayed on the vertical axis.
CBR values are shown on the horizontal axis.
The image below provides an example of a test result graph and readings.
1. Measuring Layer Thickness
Drag Line a to the top of the layer and Line b to the bottom.
The difference between these two depth values (e) represents the layer thickness.
2. Measuring the CBR Value for a Layer
Drag the vertical line (Line c) to align with the readings for that layer.
For a more conservative estimate, adjust the line toward the lowest CBR value in the layer.
The number at the top (d) represents the CBR value for the selected layer.
3. Measuring the Next Layer
Drag Line a to the next layer break.
Calculate the difference between depth readings (e) to determine the thickness.
Drag the vertical line to align with the new layer's readings to obtain its CBR value.
4. Measuring Additional Layers
Move Line b to the bottom of the current layer.
Repeat the steps for each new layer to continue analysis.
