DICKSON COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL
PROGRAM OVERVIEW 2024-25
Revised 4/15/2024
Program and Philosophy The goal of the Dickson County High Volleyball program is to develop student-athletes to be champions both on and off the court. Volleyball affords each athlete the opportunity to develop sport and life skills in a competitive environment where team growth and success comes first. Each athlete has a specific yet different role on the team from all her teammates.
It is the athlete’s goal to embrace their role to the best of their ability for the benefit of the team’s success. Our Commitment As coaches we respect and support every player in our program. Our success lies in the development of the athlete and the team. Play time for individuals is not the priority of the team as much as it is on the success of the team and striving toward the team success.
Here is our commitment to each athlete and their families this season:
• Safety We commit to providing a safe and structured environment for the athlete physically, developmentally and emotionally.
• Community We commit to honoring the spirit of the Dickson County High Volleyball community by maintaining a respectful, healthy and positive attitude towards the players, their families, and school leadership.
• Excellence We commit to giving our best effort as coaches to ensure that our program reaches its maximum potential.
Athlete Expectations
• Grades are the priority. Maintaining a 2.0 minimum GPA is required to maintain eligibility to participate as a member of the volleyball program.
• Represent Dickson County High School with pride both on and off the court, in and out of season. All athletes and coaches involved with the program will behave in such a way to honor DCHS.
• Team First means that everything we do, and decisions we make are in the best interest of the team regardless of our personal goals and desires.
• Positive Attitude and Work Ethic for the team: We allow no one to work harder than us in practice or a game. This includes setting up equipment, tearing down, etc.
• Prompt and ready to Play Attend all practices, games and activities. An unexcused absence/tardy negatively impacts the program and will be addressed. Please schedule doctor appointments around practices and games.
• Have Fun. Volleyball is a fun and dynamic sport! Enjoy your experience, each other, the game, learning, and watching this dynamic team grow and compete.
Practice will be held Monday through Friday on every non-game day for an average of 2 hours. The schedule is always subject to change and will be communicated to the athlete as needed.

Additional Important Information
Athletes in-season with high school volleyball are not permitted to practice or compete in any other indoor volleyball practice or program. This includes private lessons and open gyms during the season between tryouts and the final match of the team’s season. Athletes spend up to 20 hours per week practicing and competing in volleyball. Additional training risks overuse injuries. Athletes that play ANY in-season high school sport MUST inform all coaches involved so that everyone is on the same page.
