Top Virginia players to compete in Tysons, VA on Sept. 28, 2019
The Capital Go chapter of the American Go Association (AGA) is pleased to announce, the 2019 Virginia State Go Championship (VSGC) will host a lot of strong players in Virginia, and Virginia Delegate Mark Keam’s office has confirmed Delegate Keam’s attendance between 12:30-1:30PM. VSGC is expanded to award Virginia Youth Go Champion and Virginia Women’s Go Champion. The Fairfax County television (Channel 36) will have some coverage on the Washington Go Culture Festival, which provides players a full day of competition, featuring four tournaments including the 8th Virginia Go Open, which this year will also serve as a qualifying tournament for the VSGC tournament.

The Go festival promotes Asian culture and enhance international communication. In Asia, Go has been an official category in the Asian Games (Olympic). Three AGA chapters – NOVA Go, Capital Go, and the Korean American Baduk Association – have joined together to host the state championship. Both AGA’s Virginia Chapters, and the VSGC tournament are non-profit.

The festival on Saturday September 28th, also include team tournaments and a computer AI-aided tournament during the lunch break, both with cash prizes. Kicking off at 9AM, the team tournament hosts four teams: two university alumni teams, a Tysons team and a Korean American team. The Final-Four of the VSGC will be in Annandale, VA on October 27th.
