Via Amtrak (ALX Station) Book Amtrak directly to Alexandria Union Station (ALX) at 110 Callahan Dr. The station is just 1 block (~3-minute walk) across King Street from the hotel.
Flying into Reagan National (DCA) Closest airport (~4 miles). Take the WMATA Metro Blue or Yellow Line toward Huntington/Franconia-Springfield for 3 stops (~10 mins) to King St-Old Town Station, right across from the venue.
Flying into Dulles International (IAD) Take the Metro Silver Line from Dulles Airport Station to Rosslyn, then transfer to the Blue Line (toward Franconia-Springfield) to King St-Old Town Station (~60 mins total), or take a taxi/rideshare (~35–45 mins).

- 9 Hanchan Rounds
- 75 + 0 Round Timer
- 75 minute round timer. When time is called players finish their hand.
- We will be strictly enforcing the scheduled round start times. We expect all players to be in their seats 5 minutes before the round starts and walls fully built before the timer starts.
- Swiss Pairing System
- Every round players are placed into buckets based on their current standing and paired against players in the same bucket. The number of buckets increases as the tournament progresses. The exact bucket number per round will be posted at a later date.
WRC 2025 Ruleset as the baseline ruleset with the following adjustments:
- [ 15 / 5 / -5 / -15 ] Floating Uma
- Placement Uma is adjusted based on how many players finish at or above 30,000. For one player at or above starting uma adjusts to [ 20 / 0 / -5 / 15 ] and for three players at or above starting uma adjusts to [ 15 / 5 / 0 / -20 ]
- Aka Nashi
- No Red 5s. This is not an adjustment to the base WRC 2025 ruleset, but important enough to call attention to
- Atamahane OFF
- No head bump on Ron. This allows for both Double and Triple Ron. Atamahane is still used to decide who gets any and all Riichi sticks
- Nagashi Mangan ON
- Sho-Chombos
- Penalty that gives a Dead Hand and -5 to a player's tournament score
- Shohai & Taihai (Too many/few tiles) is downgraded from Chombo to Sho-Chombo
- Ryuukyoku reveals must be initiated by the dealer player, afterwards the non-dealer players reveal in turn order. Early Ryuukyoku is a chombo on the dealer. Non-dealer players initiating the Ryuukyoku procedure before the dealer will be given a warning.
- After a Chombo the table will receive a 2 minute time extension + 1 minute for every row completed by the dealer.
- These time extensions may be adjusted mid-tournament to ensure a timely schedule is met
