Materials:
Paper with abstract watercolor designs or colorful backgrounds, pens or markers.
Instructions:
Look closely at the colorful abstract design in front of you. What shapes, patterns, or images do you see hidden within the colors? Use your pen or marker to draw on top of the colors. Trace, outline, or add doodles and patterns to bring out what you see. Think of it like a reverse coloring page or a colorful zentangle.
Goals:
This exercise promotes mindful observation and creative interpretation. By focusing attention on the visual elements of the paper and drawing what you notice, you practice nonjudgmental awareness and staying present, which are key aspects of the DBT mindfulness module.
