Materials:
Magazines, scissors, glue sticks, and blank sheets of paper. Optional: textured materials (fabric, paper scraps) and drawing tools (pens, markers, colored pencils).
Instructions:
Create a collage that represents the thoughts or emotions you're noticing right now. Use images, textures, and colors that speak to what you’re experiencing, without labeling anything as “good” or “bad.” Just observe and represent what’s there.
Goals:
This activity supports mindfulness by helping to notice internal experiences without judgment. By creating a visual representation of thoughts and emotions, you practice being present and aware without reacting or categorizing. This builds the DBT skill of observing and describing in a nonjudgmental way.
