Materials:
Paper, drawing materials, collage supplies, or mask-making materials if available.
Instructions:
Create two masks. One mask should represent how you present yourself in relationships. The other should represent how you feel underneath the surface. Think about which parts of yourself you show and which you tend to hide. Reflect on why certain parts are hidden or protected.
Goals:
This activity supports exploration of authenticity and self-expression. It can reveal patterns related to people-pleasing, fear of rejection, or avoidance of conflict. It helps build self-awareness and supports DBT interpersonal effectiveness skills such as balancing self-respect with relationship goals.
