Standard-Based Grading

During the academic year 2021-2022, I partially incorporated Standard-based Grading scheme into my Calculus 1 courses. This work was inspired by Dr. Tova Brown, a fellow from Project NExt Brown Cohort. However, I only used it for 40% of the course grade; the remaining 60% is from traditional assessments (participation, weekly written assignments, etc.). I moved away from traditional written in-class exams (In my opinion, it has removed a lot of pressure while keeping the course challenging but in a more manageable way).

Other Resources for Teaching

  1. Mathmatize: I used Mathmatize mainly to introduce new concepts to students. The interface is similar to Duolingo and the question bank covers a wide range of topics in high school/undergraduate math courses.

  2. MAA Connect
