Update for Community Members 4/23/21

If you signed up for our project, we have been emailing out senior assignments this week. We should finish sending out emails by tonight. If you signed up for a senior and did not receive an email, please let us know. There were a few email addresses that were not put in correctly, so the email couldn't go through. As of right now, every senior has been adopted, so any additional sign-ups will go towards an overflow in the event that a community member does not follow through and create a package for their senior. Thanks so much for all of your help and participation in our project. We look forward to working with you to create some joy for the Class of 2021 at the end of a very stressful year.

What Goes in the Box?

If you are interested in participating in this project, but unsure of what to put in your box, here are some ideas. After being paired with your senior, you will receive information such as which college they are attending, their shirt size, favorite snacks, etc. Boxes can include items such as t-shirts for their college, their favorite snacks, tumblers, gift cards, or small dorm essentials. The ideal price range for each box is $25 - $50. We've included some images from some successful 2020 Adopt a Senior projects in order to give you some inspiration.

When Will I Receive My Senior?

The deadline for community members to sign up for this project is Friday, April 23. The original deadline to sign up was April 16, so if you signed up before that date we hope to email you with details about your senior the following week, April 19-23. For everyone else, we will start emailing out senior assignments the week after the 23rd.

How Will I Get My Package to My Senior?

Once you have put together your care package, you can drop it off at the front of DB on one of the following dates: Saturday, May 8 from 10 am - 2 pm, Wednesday, May 12 from 8 am - 3 pm, or Saturday, May 15 from 10 am - 2 pm. Drop-off dates and times can also be found on the "Timeline" page of our website. Please make sure you have your name as well as your senior's homeroom clearly listed on your package. If you adopted multiple seniors, please include the number* of each senior on your care package. All packages will be stored in a secure room inside the school and there will be a designated day for all seniors to pick up their packages.

*Seniors will be assigned to you by number in our email. Please use these numbers to label your care packages.

FAQ:

Q: Can I choose my senior?

A: No. In order to keep this project as efficient and fair as possible, all seniors and participating community members will be randomly assigned.

Q: Can I adopt more than one senior?

A: Yes! You can indicate the number of seniors you would like to adopt on the Google sign-up form. However, depending on the participation rate, you may only be paired with one.

Q: Can I contact my senior?

A: We will not be providing you with senior contact information throughout the duration of this project and cannot give any of your contact information to your senior due to school policy.

Q: Will I know who my senior is?

A: Due to privacy and safety concerns, we are not allowed to provide you with the name of the senior you are adopting. You will receive details about the senior you've been assigned to adopt through email in order to help you create your care package.
