We’re looking forward to getting out and about at Walsall MakerFest 2026 on Saturday 26 September — and we hope to see you there.

MakerFest is exactly the sort of event we like: people from across Walsall coming together to make things, share ideas, enjoy themselves and meet people they might not otherwise bump into. There’ll be music, dance, performances, a makers market, street food and plenty going on across the town centre. And it’s free.

We’ll be there too, with our Democracy by Design flyers, our black-and-white logo and, most importantly, people you can actually talk to.

We’ll be chatting to anyone who wants to know a little more about what we’re trying to do — but equally, we want to hear from you. What do you think works well about democracy in Walsall? What doesn't? And, perhaps most importantly, if you could change one thing about the way local people are involved in decisions, what would it be?

You don't need to be a political anorak, a campaigner or someone who attends council meetings for fun. In fact, we'd particularly like to hear from people who aren't any of those things.

Democracy by Design is about finding better ways for everyone to have a voice. MakerFest gives us a chance to start doing exactly that: getting out of the usual rooms, meeting people where they are and having a conversation.

So if you're heading into Walsall town centre on Saturday, come and say hello. Pick up a flyer, ask us a difficult question, tell us we're completely wrong — or just have a chat.
