Dayton School Music

About me

I became the music director in Dayton in 2021 where I teach grades K-12, 5th grade band, Middle School Band, High School Band and Pep Band. Before coming to Dayton, I lived and worked in the Nashville, TN area. I'm originally from Bakersfield, CA and was raised and educated in Southern California, attending Cal State Long Beach, then getting my master's and doctorate degrees at UCLA. I started out as a saxophone player in 4th grade, but then discovered my love for the bassoon in the 8th grade. With the two instruments, I could play so many different musical styles, including jazz, pop, and classical. My professional music career has taken me all over the world and I've performed and lectured on 6 continents. I started my teaching journey as a professor and have held full-time teaching positions at Virginia Tech and Austin Peay State University, teaching both bassoon and oboe. I've performed with the Nashville Symphony, Pasadena Symphony, Bakersfield Symphony, and many more. I'm excited to share my experience with the students here in Dayton! I currently live in Walla Walla with my daughter.
