Rev. Ken Lamar Williams is a native of Lexington, KY. A product of the Fayette County School System he graduated from Lafayette High School. He then attended and attained a degree from Western Kentucky University in Social Studies and Religious Studies. He accepted Christ at an early age at the Centerville Missionary Baptist Church, Paris Kentucky under the Pastorate of the Late Rev. Harry James Banks. He was also licensed to preach the Gospel at Centerville on the November 5th, 2000. He was ordained November 20, 2011 under the Pastorate of Rev. David Peoples. Rev. Williams currently serves as an associate minister at the Burnett Avenue Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Daniel Corrie Shull, while serving his home church when needed. He also served the Rockfield First Baptist Church 6 years under the Pastorate of Rev. Dr. Porter Bailey while matriculating at Western Kentucky University. He has served in several capacities in his time as an associate. From Sunday School teacher, youth teacher/minister, to preaching he has served in many areas in the Churches God has called him to be of assistance. He has also served in both the Union and Consolidated Districts.
He is the son of Rev. Darryl and Victoria Persley of Lexington, Ky. He currently resides in Louisville, KY. He is the father of three children: Gabrielle, Kenneth, and Jabari. He is married to the former Robin Holloway. He is a teacher in the Jefferson County Public School system for 7 years. He currently is teaching Social Studies at the Academy @ Shawnee, Louisville, KY, where he is the Health and Human Services team lead, and in other leadership positions. Rev. Williams is also pursuing a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Campbellsville University.
He feels his calling is not only to preach to the masses but to love and to serve them. As his former Pastor says “he doesn’t have to call me Reverend, doesn’t have to call me preacher, doesn’t even have to call me by my name, as long as he says servant, in whom I am well pleased, that will be enough for me.”
