NOTE: Just about an hour before we arrived at the trailhead, a motorcycle lost contol speeding too fast around the curve smashing into a parked car on the side of the road. The owners heard a helicopter while they were heading back down the trail, not knowing that it airlifted the badly injured motorcyclist to the hospital. When they returned to their car, they found the Harley, still up against the car, windows shattered, doors welded shut from the impact. Angeles Crest Highway is known as a motorcycle magnet - many of the high-speed variety.
