This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Data Stored Locally on Your Device
All your habit data, entries, tasks, daily plans, goals, and preferences are stored locally on your device using on-device storage. We do not have access to this data and it never leaves your device unless you choose to send feedback (see section 1.2).
This includes:
- Habits you create (name, schedule, color, icon)
- Daily completion entries (done, skipped, missed)
- Tasks and daily plans
- Weekly goals
- Notification preferences
- App settings
1.2 Feedback Data (Optional)
If you voluntarily submit feedback through the in-app feedback form, the following information is sent to our server:
- Date of submission
- Feedback type (mood rating, bug report, or feature request)
- Your written feedback text
This data is stored in a private Google Sheets document accessible only to the dawm development team. No personally identifiable information is collected unless you choose to include it in your feedback text.
1.3 Analytics and Advertising Measurement (Optional)
If you have analytics enabled (controlled via Settings > Usage & Ad Measurement), we collect usage data through PostHog and Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used, to improve it, and to measure the performance of our advertising. This includes:
- App open/close events
- General feature usage patterns (e.g., which screens are visited, when the subscription screen is shown, when a free trial starts or a purchase completes)
- Your device's advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID)
- App version and device type (e.g., "Android", "iOS")
- Country-level location (derived from IP address, not precise location)
We use this data to measure which advertisements lead people to install and use dawm, and to improve the app. We do not collect your name, email, habits, or any content you create in the app.
The advertising identifier is a device-level identifier that can be used to recognise your device across apps and to measure advertising performance. It does not reveal your identity to us directly, but it is not anonymous. You can reset or delete it at any time in your Android device settings.
You can opt out of analytics and advertising measurement at any time via Settings > Usage & Ad Measurement. When opted out, no analytics or advertising measurement data is collected or transmitted.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information
- We do not collect your habit data, entries, or personal content
- We do not track your precise location
- We do not access your contacts, photos, or other device data
- We do not use cookies
- We do not sell your data or share it with data brokers
3. Legal Basis for Processing
- Feedback data: Processed based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You voluntarily choose to submit feedback.
- Analytics and advertising measurement data: Processed based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Analytics is enabled by default but you can opt out at any time in Settings.
You may withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
4. Notifications
The app may send local notifications (daily reminders, planner reminders) if you enable them in Settings. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device and do not involve any external server.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell or trade your data, and we do not share it with data brokers. Data is shared only with the following service providers, solely for the purposes described:
- PostHog (product analytics) — only if you have analytics enabled
- Google (Firebase Analytics and Google Ads) — only if you have analytics enabled; used for usage analytics and advertising measurement
- RevenueCat (subscription management) — to manage subscriptions and purchases
- Google Sheets (feedback storage) — only if you submit feedback
6. International Data Transfers
- Analytics data is processed by PostHog on servers in the European Union (eu.i.posthog.com).
- Advertising measurement data is processed by Google (Firebase Analytics and Google Ads), which may process data on servers located outside the EEA. Google operates under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and implements Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Feedback data is stored in Google Sheets, which may process data on servers located outside the EEA. Google operates under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and implements Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. Data Retention
- Local data: Remains on your device until you delete it (via Settings > Reset All Data) or uninstall the app.
- Feedback data: Retained for up to 3 years from the date of submission, after which it is deleted. You may request earlier deletion at any time.
- Analytics data: Retained by PostHog for up to 1 year, after which it is automatically deleted.
- Advertising measurement data: Retained by Google Analytics for Firebase for a default period of 2 months, up to a maximum of 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.
- Subscription data: Retained by RevenueCat for as long as necessary to manage your subscription and to meet legal and accounting obligations.
In every case, analytics and advertising measurement data does not include your habit data or any content you create in the app.
8. Data Security
Your habit data is stored locally on your device and protected by your device's own security measures (passcode, biometrics, encryption). Feedback submissions, analytics data and advertising measurement data are transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
9. Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights regarding any personal data we process:
- Right of access: Request a copy of your data.
- Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure: Request deletion of your data.
- Right to restriction: Request that we limit processing of your data.
- Right to data portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object: Object to processing of your data.
- Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at omran_cars@hotmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Note: analytics and advertising measurement data is not linked to your name or contact details in our systems. Because it is keyed to a device-level advertising identifier rather than to you directly, we may be unable to locate records relating to you from your name or email alone.
10. Right to Lodge a Complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. In Germany, you may contact your state's data protection authority (Landesdatenschutzbehörde) or the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection (BfDI).
11. Children's Privacy
dawm does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. The app stores data locally and does not require an account or personal information to use.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make significant changes to how we process personal data, we will notify users through an in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
