Coach Eric Steidlmayer has been a nationally recognized leader in collegiate tennis for over twenty years. During his fourteen years as head coach at UC San Diego, Steidlmayer led his team to 12 consecutive NCAA post-season appearances. In addition to coaching seven All-American players, his teams won the UCSD Highest Team GPA award twice. Since his arrival at UC Davis, the men's tennis team has reached as high as No. 49 in national rankings. Under his tutelage, six players have earned All-Big West conference honors and seven doubles pairing have earned all-league laurels. Steidlmayer was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Western Region Coach of the Year three times, and the Big West Conference Coach of the Year. He served on the NCAA Men's and Women's National Tennis Committee for four years and as the chairperson for two years. An Aggie himself, Steidlmayer earned his Masters of Arts in Economics at UC Davis, and his Juris Doctor at the University of San Diego Law School. He is father to three daughters, ages three to nine, who can often be found with him at the UC Davis tennis courts.
Assistant Coach Nathan Robinson has over ten years of coaching experience. Prior to UC Davis, he was the assistant coach at Western Michigan University and Oklahoma State University. Robinson is an expert at helping both male and female tennis players to become better competitors by teaching them goal setting and attainment techniques - the same coaching he provided to the Oklahoma State women's team players as they advanced to the final round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships for the first time in program history. At the Davis Tennis Camps, Robinson's highest priorities are to share his love of the game and to teach campers the tennis and life skills they need to feel more confident, and empowered both on and off the courts.
The Davis Tennis Camps provide campers with an introduction to strength, agility, and skill training appropriate for the player's age and ability. Our goals are to help campers develop a passion for the game, and to teach the fundamentals of strokes, strategy, and tactics. Our camps are designed to quickly build an understanding of the game for beginners, challenge experienced players, and provide a fun, supportive and accessible environment for all. Camps take place at the Marya Welch Tennis Center at UC Davis, the same courts played on by the best college players from UC Davis and around the nation.
