Whilst parking residential in Brig shares the same pressures residents find across many South Ribble towns and villages, parking to go shopping is not the nightmare people often imagine and shoppers have lots of options.
Below is a guide to parking in central Bamber Bridge for shopping. This is not a complete guide nor can it be taken as definitive. Each person parking is responsible for reading the signs displaying the rules in whichever area they park in as those are the only rules that will matter.
Bamber Bridge Shopping Centre (the car park behind Morrisons but this NOT owned by Morrisons):
Managed by: This is not owned or managed by Morrisons or any of the shops on site - the site is owned by a private property company and parking is managed by ESPEL based in Preston (https://espel.uk/)
Cost: Free
Duration: 3 hours maximum (with a no return rule of 90 minutes once you leave)
Fine: £100
How is this monitored: This is not 100% clear as there does not appear to be ANPR cameras (but there might be) and instead seems to be visited by ESPEL staff regularly who take photos of people breaking the rules.
Key Rules: Park between the lines. You cannot leave the shopping centre site to shop elsewhere in Brig. No return for 90 minutes once you leave.
Top Tips: Take great care when you park to be within the lines (not even a wheel touching one, stay within). Do not go off-site to nip to another store on Station Road (if you need to, move your car). Take a photo with your phone to show your car parked correctly. Get a receipt from one of the shops on site and take a photo of it with your phone so you can prove you were shopping on site.
What to do if you get a ticket: There's not a lot the shops on site can do as they are tenants, not owners. You need to go through the ESPEL appeals process (https://espel.zatappeal.com/) which is where your photos of a correctly parked car and of a shopping receipt will come in handy.

Food Warehouse:
Managed by: This is owned by Iceland food stores, but parking is managed by Horizon Parking based in Chelmsford (https://horizonparking.co.uk/)
Duration: 90 minutes maximum (with a no return rule that is unclear - this section will be updated)
Fine: £85
How is this monitored: ANPR cameras.
Key Rules: Park between the lines. You CAN leave the site to shop elsewhere in Brig.
Top Tips: Take great care when you park to be within the lines (it is hard as many lines are worn and hard to see) so take a photo with your phone to show your car parked correctly. Get a receipt from one of the shops on site and take a photo of it with your phone so you can prove you were shopping on site.
What to do if you get a ticket: You can speak to the store manager who may be able to help, especially if you have a receipt as proof of shopping there. Otherwise you need to go through the Horizon Parking appeals process (https://horizonparking.co.uk/appeal-a-parking-charge/)
